I began my personal fitness journey 18 years ago at the Sports Club L.A. (currently Equinox Sports Club) in Boston, MA.

Before I became a personal trainer, I struggled to find balance in my professional and personal life. My mom taught me to treat my body like a “temple”. She emphasized the importance of having healthy eating habits and staying active. Her message would prove to be even more important as an adult.

My body transformation—a.k.a my lifestyle transformation—began at the age of…twenty-something. I was diagnosed with a heart condition that could worsen over time if I didn’t take care of myself. I was working in a high-pressure job that I didn’t enjoy. My then-doctor advised me to “find a better way to manage my stress”.

I started with kickboxing.

Dave, a kickboxing instructor at my gym, had repeatedly invited me to attend his class, and I had always given a canned response that “someday” I would visit. But I ran into Dave after my diagnosis, and he asked again:

“Laura, when are you coming to my class?” I asked,

“What time is the class, again?”

He replied, ”6:00 am.”

I told him, “That’s too early for me.”

Dave looked at me and said, “Get your a** out of bed and come to class!”

I probably should have been offended, but I attended his class then and returned every week afterwards.

I LOVED the class and how it made my body feel. I felt empowered and confident…and I was able to better manage my stress at work. I would eventually leave that stressful job to work as a personal trainer.

Next, I changed my eating habits.

As I began my career in the fitness industry, I learned how much I didn’t know. Nutritional needs and eating habits vary from person to person. I made dietary changes based on my needs and lifestyle. In one year, I met my doctor again for my annual exam. My hard work paid off! My heart condition had improved: it was almost undetectable. I wanted to share my success with my clients and help them experience the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle.

I provide a non-judgmental and supportive space for my clients.

Training a diverse population of clients has helped me to deepen my knowledge of weight loss, nutrition, stretching, pre- and post-natal training, muscle toning, muscle building, and rehabilitation. I want to continue to be an inspiration and advocate for my clients to do what they think they can’t. I encourage them to focus on health goals, such as body transformation.
True body transformation is a lifestyle transformation that begins with a whisper of your innermost hopes, dreams, desires…and sometimes fears. Oftentimes, that whisper will go unheard or ignored.

Working out is important.
Balancing food intake is important.
Proper mindset is EVERYTHING.

Stop ignoring the whisper and start transforming your life!
